What box do I tick? – Guardian Ballers, Mental Health and Young people with Kieran Joseph

Today’s conversation is with the CEO of Guardian Ballers. Kieran Joseph has created a social programme that marries the simplicity of playing basketball and using the sport as a way to support young people with their mental health. We talk about how Kieran started GB and the ways in which young people are talking about mental health. Kieran also talks about his experiences as a teacher and what it is like being a mixed raced person. I hope you enjoy this conversation; you can listen to the podcast on any platform you listen to podcasts.

As I mentioned, I joined a local basketball after a session I attended with Kieran. The sport is so easy to play and pick up. I think we don’t often realise the impact that sport can have on our mental health. We gain a sense of community and belonging which is essential for us as humans. In addition, the hormones released when we exercise have an immense benefit for our brains. I think this video perfectly explains the positive benefits of mental health

Here is the Kevin love video that we discussed.
